How do I get a good comparison photo?
Two photos are worth comparing when everything except the thing itself stayed the same. Five things do most of that work:
- Line up with the ghost
- The faded photo on screen is the first one you took of this thing. Match it before you press the shutter, and every shot in the run lines up with the same starting point.
- Same state each time
- Hair straight out of the shower lies flat, a plant an hour after watering stands up. Neither is a change worth recording, and both look like one.
- Same light each time
- A window, a bathroom light, whatever you can repeat. Shadows hide and exaggerate in equal measure.
- Can't see the spot?
- The back of your head, the crown, anything behind you: use a mirror, flip to the front camera, and shoot with the side volume button. You don't have to see the screen to take the photo.
- Hands full, or can't reach the shutter?
- The timer gives you three seconds and ticks so you can hear and feel it running.
How do I send a record to someone?
- Send as PDF
- Open the thing, tap the three dots at the top, then Send as PDF. You see the pages before anything is sent, and the size of the file above the Share button.
- Only some of the days
- When a record spans more than one day, two dates sit under the pages. Change either and the PDF redraws for those days. A long record makes a big file; the days that matter make a small one.
- What's in it
- Every photo, note, video, voice note and thing you did, newest first, with its weekday, date and time. Photos whole, never cropped. A video goes in as one picture from it, marked as a still from a video with the video's length. Voice notes are listed with their length, because sound can't go in a PDF. The first page says which time zone the times are in.
Writing in
A person reads it. There's no ticketing system and no bot, so a reply may take a few days.
What to include
Four things make a problem fixable instead of a mystery:
- What you were doing
- The screen you were on and what you tapped, in your own words.
- What happened instead
- What you expected, and what you got.
- Your iPhone and iOS version
- In iOS Settings, under General, then About.
- The Kuenta version
- At the bottom of the app's settings.
Please don't send photos of yourself unless they're the actual problem. Kuenta is built so your record stays with you, and a support mailbox shouldn't be the exception.
If your record has gone missing
Kuenta stores everything on your device, so a lost record usually means a lost or replaced device. Restoring an iCloud backup made while Kuenta was installed should bring the record back with it — that path hasn't been tested end to end yet, so if it doesn't, say so. That's a bug worth knowing about.
There's no copy on a server for us to send you — that's the trade for having no account and no cloud. Where things are kept spells it out.
